Open Archive: Share & Scan Desk by Puss in Bed Zine Library at Yogyakarta Art Book Fair 2026

Puss in Bed will be bringing our archive desk to Yogyakarta Art Book Fair this year!

This marks one year since we started this initiative, at the exact same fair, actually.
Over the past year, we’ve been slowly scanning and circulating self-published materials from our own shelves at Bedeng Akademi Subkultur, along with publications borrowed from friends, artists, musicians, collectives, and other independent archives. What started as a small home-based scanning activity has now grown into an online archive project dedicated to preserving and recirculating zines and printed matter.

During the fair, we want to open that process to the public through our Open Archive: Scan & Share Desk.

Visitors are welcome to bring a flash drive, hard drive, or their own device and take archive files directly with them (up to 16GB). All files are hosted on the Internet Archive and indexed through pussinbed.com, which will officially launch during the fair.

We also invite visitors to bring publications they would like to share with the archive. Zines, newsletters, photocopied booklets, gig documentation, artist publications, weird local print experiments. we’ll scan selected materials directly on-site as part of an ongoing effort to preserve and circulate independent publishing culture.

Beyond the archive desk, we’ll also have a small selection of merchandise available. Every purchase will help support the sustainability of Puss in Bed as an independent, non-profit archive initiative, including scanning equipment, storage, website maintenance, and future projects.

More than anything, this activation is an invitation to gather, exchange stories, browse publications, and spend time around printed matter together. It’s kind of funny to think that last year we were walking around the fair giving stickers to visitors and exhibitors, and now, at the same event one year later, we’ve been invited to become part of it.

See you in the underground (literally), Agent K & Unseenterror will be there to greet you.
